Project summary

The canton of Fribourg recognizes and rewards its most innovative companies, giving them significant visibility within the cantonal economic landscape.

As part of an agency competition to redesign the visual identity of the Prix à l'innovation de Fribourg, our agency developed a series of logo proposals as well as a website design.

The logo needed to be adaptable, with specific variations for each of the three award categories (start-up, business and sustainable economy). For the web design, my thinking focused on the color palette, where gold was chosen to evoke, in the collective imagination, the medal and the trophy. Since this project came from a government body, it was essential that the design remain sober and professional, without too much flourish.

I incorporated patterns (at reduced opacity) made up of the logo's variations as backgrounds for certain sections, particularly for the Call To Action (CTA) areas.

Although our submission was selected as a finalist, we didn't make it past the final stage, for reasons unrelated to the quality of the final result.

A few notes about the project

  • A project completed while I was still employed at a communications agency.
  • A boost to the visibility of innovative Fribourg companies.
  • Since 1991, more than 50 companies have benefited from this showcase.
  • Since 2012, the award has been organized by PromFR and the BCF, who share the costs.
  • The award is held every two years; the next edition will take place in 2024.
  • The three awards are: Business Award, Start-up Award, Sustainable Economy Award.
