The context

ECAB — the body responsible for insuring every building in the canton of Fribourg, and for fire and natural-hazard prevention — brought us on to redesign its website after an agency pitch.

The UX thinking

Before drawing anything, we worked through the question with the client: who visits this site, which pages get the most traffic, how do you guide someone in an emergency, and how do you keep navigation simple when the site spans dozens of pages across the institution's different departments? The goal was for anyone to find what they needed quickly, in an environment that felt both sober and pleasant to use.

Mockups and illustrations

With that thinking in place, we built the graphic mockups while staying true to the client's existing brand guidelines, then produced all of the site's illustrations, designed to evoke natural elements and the Fribourg landscape. The site, now administered directly by ECAB, is the result of several months of shared work.

The approach

  • A project completed while I was still employed at the Créambule agency.
  • A mandate won through an agency pitch.
  • Priority given to guiding visitors, including in an emergency.
  • Custom illustrations designed around the Fribourg region.
